Beginner Lessons
Scuba Diver is the first certification, and is the gateway into recreational SCUBA (Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) diving. Whether you have never been diving, or you have done resort courses and are ready to obtain your certification, this is the place to begin. Your Scuba Diver Certification allows you to rent SCUBA gear, obtain air fills, and to go diving outside the supervision of a professional diver.
Scuba Diver
If you’ve always wanted to take scuba diving lessons, experience unparalleled adventure and see the world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. Get your scuba diving certification with the Scuba Diver course. To enroll in an Scuba Diver course (or Junior Scuba Diver course), you must be at least 12 years old. You need adequate swimming skills and be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.
The Scuba Diver course consists of three main phases: Knowledge Development (online, independent study and classroom lecture) to understand basic principles of scuba diving; Confined Water Dives (pool) to learn basic scuba skills; Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore. Open Water can refer to a lake, if you do the entire course with Scuba H2O, or ask us about referral dives where you can complete the open water portion of your class while you are on vacation.
Advanced Courses
The NAUI Advanced courses are for the diver that already has their Scuba Diver Certification and is looking to advance their diving knowledge and skill. The NAUI Advanced courses offer Scuba divers several offerings to explore their interest and skill development.
Advanced Scuba Diver
The Advanced Scuba Diver course is for the person that already has their Open Water Certification and is looking to hone their skills. In the NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver course, there’s a long list of scuba specialty dives to try. Boat diving, altitude diving, drift diving, diving in surf or currents, search and recovery, non-penetration wreck diving, plus about 12 more. You do six different dives all under the expert guidance of your NAUI Instructor. No formal classroom session, just a lot of diving. You can start learning online with e-Learning and even get credit for your dives toward the related NAUI Specialty Diver course.
Rescue Diver Course
Being more confident in the water is what every diver desires and the NAUI Rescue Diver course will help you get there. It also teaches you to be a better buddy. During the course, you learn how to spot potential problems and quickly deal with them before they become big issues. You’ll be ready to rescue someone in an emergency, but you’ll also have the skills and awareness to prevent problems.
Master Scuba Diver
Gain the in-depth knowledge and experience that will distinguish you as a leader in any diving club or group. The NAUI Master Scuba Diver course is for certified divers who desire additional training or orientation to a variety of diving sites and conditions.
Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx)
Nitrox is used to extend your bottom time, lessen your surface interval, and maximize your dive time. During this course, you will learn how to choose the proper blend of Nitrox for your dive profile, determine maximum depth limits for your Nitrox mixture, analyze your breathing mixture, and plan and safely execute each dive. Your instructor will teach you about the physiology of oxygen and nitrogen; advantages, disadvantages, and risks of nitrox; oxygen toxicity; hazards and precautions of handling oxygen; the concept of Equivalent Air Depth; use of EANx with standard Air Dive Tables; common gas mixing procedures; and more.
Drysuit Diver
If you live in a cold-water climate or would just like to be warmer regardless of where you dive, the NAUI Dry Suit Diver course is for you. You will learn which dry suit style and accompanying undergarments are right for you and the diving you do. Then you will learn how to take care of your dry suit. During two dives, in addition to a confined water dive, you will practice putting on and taking off your dry suit with minimal assistance, mastering buoyancy control using your dry suit, and dive safety procedures when using a dry suit.
Equipment Troubleshooting and Maintenance
Don’t lose a single dive to minor equipment problems. Learn how to perform field repairs on your equipment and the proper care that it should have on a regular basis. In this course, we will cover basic and advanced operation, as well as field maintenance of regulator first and second stages, gauges, computers, masks, fins, wetsuits, BC’s, hoses, tanks, lights, and more. We look at all types of scuba and diving equipment and review strengths, failure points, and importance to the world of diving.
